Basic information

 

Hydroxyethylmethylcellulose (HEMC) is widely used in water-based latex coatings, construction and building materials, printing inks, petroleum drilling, and other fields, playing a thickening and water retention role, improving workability, and is used in dry and wet mortar series products.
1. Appearance: HEMC is a white or white fibrous or granular powder; Odorless.
2. Solubility: The H model in HEMC can be soluble in both cold and hot water, while the L model can only be soluble in hot water. HEMC is not soluble in most organic solvents. HEMC after surface treatment is dispersed and non agglomerated in cold water, and its dissolution is slow. However, adjusting the pH value to 8-10 can quickly dissolve.
3. PH stability: Within the range of 2-12, the viscosity changes slightly, and beyond this range, the viscosity decreases.

1. Its properties are similar to those of methylcellulose, but due to the presence of hydroxyethyl, hydroxyethyl methylcellulose is more easily soluble in water, the solution is more compatible with salt, and has a higher condensation temperature.
2. Food processing can also be used as adhesives, emulsions, film forming, thickening, suspension aids, dispersions, water retaining agents, etc.
3. The daily chemical industry is used as an additive for toothpaste, cosmetics, detergents, etc.
4. Used as a gelling agent and water retaining agent for cement, gypsum, and lime, it is an excellent additive for powder building materials.

Application


 

1. Construction industry: As a water retaining agent and retarder for cement mortar, it makes the mortar pumpable. Apply mortar,gypsum, putty powder or other building materials as Adhesive to improve the coating performance and extend the operation time.Used for pasting ceramic tiles, marble, plastic decorations, pasting reinforcing agents, and can also reduce the amount of cementused. The water retention performance of HEMC ensures that the slurry will not crack due to drying too quickly after application,enhancing the strength after hardening.
2. Daily chemical products: They can be used in detergents to improve the viscosity and bubble stability of shampoo, cleanser, and cleanser, as well as to improve the flowability of toothpaste. It can also be used in the cosmetics industry.

3. Ceramic manufacturing industry: widely used as Adhesive in ceramic product manufacturing.
4. Coating industry: As a thickener, dispersant, and stabilizer in the coating industry, it has good solubility in water or
organic solvents. As a paint remover.
5. Ink printing: As a thickener, dispersant, and stabilizer in the ink industry, it has good solubility in water or organic
solvents.
6. Plastics: used as forming release agents, softeners, lubricants, etc.
7. PVC: Used as a dispersant in the production of PVC, it is the main auxiliary agent for preparing PVC through suspension polymerization.
