EDTA is a white crystalline powder that is insoluble in common organic solvents but soluble in boiling water (160 times) and alkaline solvents. At 150°C, it shows a tendency to deviate from the carboxyl group.
ETDA-2Na is a white or milky white crystalline or granular powder that is odorless, tasteless, or slightly salty. It is tasteless and odorless. It is soluble in water but poorly soluble in ethanol. It is an important chelating agent.
EDTA-4Na, also known as tetrasodium ethylenediaminetetraacetate, is an important complexing agent and metal masking agent used in textile dyeing, water treatment, color sensitization, pharmaceuticals, daily chemicals and papermaking.

1. Polymer chemical industry: EDTA is used as a polymerization activator for styrene-butadiene latex and as a multi-reaction terminator in acrylic fi.ber production.
2. Daily chemicals: EDTA is used as an additive in detergents, skin creams and hair conditioners.
3. Papermaking: EDTA is used to treat steamed fibers. It improves the whiteness of paper and reduces scale buildup in steamers.
Textile printing and dyeing: EDTA improves the colorability of dyes and the brightness of dyed fabrics.
