FAQ

What are the main applications of HPMC?
Construction (tile adhesives, putty powders, mortars), Pharmaceuticals (tablet coatings, vegetarian capsules), Food (thickener E464), Personal Care (toothpaste, shampoo)
How to dissolve HPMC properly?
The most common method: Mix HPMC powder with dry materials (cement/gypsum) first, then add water. This prevents clumping.
Does higher viscosity mean better water retention?
Not necessarily. Once viscosity exceeds 100,000-150,000 mPa s, water retention improvement is limited, but workability suffers (sticky, heavy trowel). Water retention depends more on purity than viscosity.
Why does putty powder crack or lose powder (low strength)?
Usually insufficient HPMC water retention, preventing complete cement hydration. Poor quality ash calcium (lime) or cement could also be the issue. HPMC only provides physical water retention and does not participate in chemical reactions.
What to do if mortar is sticky and heavy to trowel?
The HPMC viscosity is too high. Switch to a medium-low viscosity grade (40,000-70,000 mPa s). It provides sufficient water retention with much smoother workability.
Can I get a free sample?
Yes. Most manufacturers provide 500g-1kg free samples. The customer only needs to pay for international courier shipping.
What is the minimum order quantity (MOQ)?
Factory bulk orders typically 1 ton (1000kg). Sample trial orders can be as low as 1kg.
