Hydroxyethylcellulose (HEC), chemical formula (C2H6O2) n, is a white or light yellow, odorless, non-toxic fibrous or powdered solid prepared by etherification of alkaline cellulose , belonging to the non ionic soluble cellulose ether class. Due to its excellent thickening, suspension, dispersion, emulsification, adhesion, film formation, moisture protection, and provision of protective colloids, HEC has been widely used in fields such as petroleum exploration, coatings, construction,  and food, textiles, papermaking, and polymer polymerization reactions. 40 mesh screening rate ≥ 99%.

The pH value changes slightly in the viscosity range of 2-12, but the viscosity decreases beyond this range. It has properties such as thickening, suspension, adhesion, emulsification, dispersion, moisture retention, and protective colloid. Can prepare solutions with different viscosity ranges. It is unstable at room temperature and pressure, avoiding humidity, heat, and high temperatures. It has exceptional salt solubility to the dielectric, and its aqueous solution allows for high concentrations of salts to remain stable.

Application

 

Used as adhesive, surfactant, colloid protector, dispersant, emulsifier, and dispersion stabilizer. It has extensive applications in fields such as coatings, inks, fibers, dyeing, papermaking, cosmetics, pesticides, mineral processing, oil extraction, etc.
1. It is generally used as thickening agent, protective agent, adhesive, stabilizer, and additive for preparing emulsions, jellies, ointments, lotions, eye cleaning agents, suppositories and tablets, as well as hydrophilic gel, skeleton materials, preparation of skeleton sustained release preparations, and as stabilizer in food.
2. Used as sizing agents in the textile industry, as well as adhesives, thickeners, emulsions, and stabilizers in the electronic and light industry sectors.
3. Used as a thickener and filtrate reducer for water-based drilling and completion fluids, it has a significant thickening effect in saline drilling fluids. It can also be used as a filtrate reducer for oil well cement. It can be cross-linked with multivalent metal ions to form gel.
4. This product is used for the exploitation of oil-water based gel fracturing fluid, polystyrene, PVC and other polymeric dispersants by fracturing method. It can also be used as a thickener for latex in the paint industry, a humidity sensitive resistor in the electronic industry, a cement retarder in the construction industry, and a water retention agent.
